Peter Hirt

Peter Hirt started his career in the nuclear technology division of Motor Columbus Ing. Ltd. (today: Colenco Power Engineering Ltd.). After more than 20 years he changed and got head of the department reactor and safety of NPP Beznau before getting plant manager of NPP Gösgen-Däniken Ltd. Since 2002 he is head of the business unit thermal power generation of Aare-Tessin Ltd. for Electricity responsible for the nuclear shares of this company. In this position he is CEO of NPP Gösgen-Däniken Ltd. and vice-president of the administrative board of NPP Leibstadt.

Peter strongly supported the idea of Young Generation in Switzerland since its foundation in 1998. As board member and former president of Swiss Nuclear Society (SGK) and in his today’s position as president of swissnuclear he encouraged the work of the young generation.

He enabled his young staff members to work actively in the young generation board Switzerland as well as on the international level and supports the work of the Young Generation Group extraordinarily.

Peter provides working time and office capacity as well as manpower and money for young generation work and events. He uses his network to act as a link between the young and the “older” generation to establish a network between them.

Young-at-heart Peter counselled the YG if he is asked for and solves any problems if needed.

Peter takes all these activities mentioned above for granted.

Swiss Young Generation is indebted to Peter and with the Jan Runermark Award 2006 we want to pay tribute for his outstanding patronage.
