Country Report for RussiaActivities of the national YG network for the period given:The Nuclear Fuel Cycle: the Opportunities for the New Generation’ was the name of the fourth young generation tour to Russian nuclear fuel cycle enterprises. Tour participants visited Chepetsky Mechanical Plant (Glazov), Mashinostroitelnyi zavod (Elektrostal), Priargunsky Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise (Krasnokamensk), Angarsk Electrolyze Chemical Complex (Angarsk), Electrochemical plant (Zelenogorsk), Mining Chemical Complex (Zheleznogorsk), and Siberian Chemical Complex (Seversk). The tour had the same aims as the previous three Russian young generation tours and included all stages of the nuclear fuel cycle - from uranium mining to the reprocessing of spent fuel. At the conclusion of the tour, the 7th YDRNS annual conference took place in Seversk, where conference participants discussed the information gathered during the tour and the challenges and perspectives of the Russian fuel cycle. In 2003, approximately 60 young specialists gathered at Udomlya (Kalinin NPP), in the Tver region for the 8th YDRNS annual conference: ‘The Scientific Basis for the Safe Use of Nuclear Power Technologies’. Around 40 scientific presentations were given during the conference. The YDRNS website was updated in the summer of 2003. Now it has an English version.A film was made about ‘The Nuclear Fuel Cycle: the Opportunities for the New Generation’ tour and the 7th YDRNS annual conference. |
