S R Brown (brows1207@bridgwater.ac.uk) wrote at 01.12.2005 - 16:31:41:
Dear Sir,

I am currently undertaking a research project with respect to wind power. To date I can find no useful information regarding the internal electrical power consumption of wind turbines usually referred to as Works Power. I recently read an article in an IEE magazine where the European Nuclear Society had estimated that a third of wind farm output is lost to the inefficiency imposed on the generators that payoff load to accommodate the instantaneous wind energy available. Does the ENS have any similar information with respect to wind farm works power?

It is clear when employing wind power a considerable amount of electrical power is needed to run the yaw mechanism that keeps the blades perpendicular to the wind and blade pitch control that keeps the rotor spinning at constant speed. A significant amount of electricity is also required to magnetize the generator. In addition power is required to drive pumps, fans, heaters, dehumidifiers, lights, sensors, and communications, control systems, etc.

With reference to the specification of a modern wind farm metered values of gross electricity generated together with the metered values of works power consumed and the summated electricity supplied to the grid or local network would provide verifiable data. Over a 12 month period metered values would incorporate most of the seasonal variations and site operational conditions that could be expected. A breakdown of on load and offload works power would also be appreciated.

These figures will allow direct comparison with other forms of generation to be tabulated and discussed. I would be grateful for any assistance in obtaining this information.

Hello Expensively Colleagues,

One month ago our scientist, Dr. Karl VI von Thulé, underwent in France a police custody of 2 days during which was searched his(her) place of residence: the real motive was the search(research) for its productions, for its special Patents and for the plans of the laboratory, fortunately in Switzerland(Swiss);
If patents had been found, they would have been despoiled on behalf of(under the cover of) the infringement made for our Doctor in nuclear physics specialist of the cold fusion.

It is a clear and net demonstration of the way certain groupings steal the results of those who made a success, under different official excuses.

The communications, the internet access of the place of residence of the researcher are listened to and registered, his(her, its) laptop was put under scéllés during a month.
It is a very grave infringement on the Fundamental Freedom of the researcher who refuses to be allowed despoil, who must be carried(worn) in the knowledge of all the researchers.

I like the arrangement of those that it interests all the official documents.

The SCM thanks you.

• Department of Defense
• Civilian government
• Radiological device user community
• Nuclear power industry
• Detection, modeling, protection, and health physics communitiesTo focus on emerging threats and state-of-the art tools, with the goal of adapting the latest technology to protecting the lives of our warfighters, first responders, and the general public as well as containing and cleaning up after a major nuclear or radiological event.
First Radiological and Nuclear Event Response Symposium Goals:
• Provide a forum for Government and Industry to discuss radiological and nuclear threat materials, their specific hazards, and capabilities for detection, protection, decontamination, and medical response
• Present results from recent research and development studies conducted in both the DOD and DHS sectors

(Idea: Controlling a "nuclear explosion" by forcefully countering the reaction at the moment of detonation.)

I've wondered how a nuclear explosion could be harnessed in some way,so that instead of a huge radioactive explosion and its attendant far reaching radioactive fallout - the nuclear explosion could be restricted and contained in a small area - eliminating radioactive dispersal amd fallout.

Premise: My main premise is that above ground atomic explosions spread contamination over a very large area because when they explode in the atmospehre there is no force there to resist the wide expansion of the explosion. The explosion is not being restricted or blocked by anything but air pressure.

So what if a nuclear explosion could be blocked or restricted by another explosion - another "inward" explosion that meets and restricts the outward expansion of the nucler detonation?

For instance lets say a nuclear device (bomb) was surrounded by a ball of plastic explosive that was rigged to explode "inwardly" at the moment of the nucler (bomb) detonation.Timing of course would have to be calculated finely so that the ball of plastic explosive would detonate inwardly just as the nucler detonation started to expand.
*Also other materials could surround the nuclear device (like lets say carbon, as a for instance). The carbon could make up an inner ball of material surrounding the nuclear device, while a thick plastic explosive ball would surround the carbon ball and the nuclear device. The plastic explosive upon detonation would counter the nuclear detobnation plus force some material like carbon into the nuclear explosion.Maybe carbon or some other material used like this, could help to buffer the nuclear explosion? Or be changed by the reaction into some usable, energy producing material?

The momentary restriction of the nuclear explosion by an inward explosion would have or produce what effect(s)? I really don't have the knowledge or expertise to speculate on that except that I would think a major amount of heat would be produced. Also some of the force or power of the nuclear explosion would be restricted and turned inward on itself.Where does a gigantic amount of heat and energy go when it can't expand into the outer spaces it wants to? Could it be harnessed for making electricity or would it change from heat and energy into say gravity and create a black hole?

Any feedback would be appreciated!
