ENS Sponsorship

Through sponsorship, ENS aims at optimum coordination of events in Europe in terms of themes and scheduling. Outside Europe, ENS sponsors partner nuclear societies, especially for meetings which alternate between overseas and Europe. ENS is able to provide local and national nuclear societies, the academic world, as well as industrial partners with a fair and transparent framework for co-operation, making maximum use of the skills pool and scientific databases. The ENS Programme Committee assesses the technical content of every programme for novelty, excellence, quality and value, and explores every way in which ENS could assist in making the event a success.

What Conference Organisers must know to gain
ENS Sponsorship for International Topical Meetings

Aims

Through sponsorship, ENS aims at optimum coordination in Europe in terms of themes and scheduling. Outside Europe ENS gives sponsorships as a courtesy to partner nuclear societies, especially for meetings which alternate between overseas and Europe.

How to apply ?

Candidates must download or ask the ENS Secretariat for an official form which they must complete and return to the ENS Secretariat. To register on the calendar with provisional sponsorship, send in the form with Part 1 completed, for final sponsorship also complete Part 2 and return the entire form. After the event, they must fill in and submit a short post-conference report using the form available for download here.

When to apply ?

The application for provisional sponsorship should be made at the earliest possible stage, hopefully even before the final decision on the exact date of a conference is made. Effective coordination is only possible as long as there are still some degrees of freedom. The information to be provided to ENS on Part 1 of the application form is very general and can still be preliminary.

Who decides approval ?

The ENS Program Committee (PC) in spring and autumn examines the sponsorship applications and makes recommendations. Final approval or rejection is by the ENS Committee twice a year, usually in spring/summer and November.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Class I and TOP Sponsorship

Class I Sponsorship is restricted to truly international meetings organised by ENS Member Societies.
All Class I meetings are eligible for being promoted to TOP sponsorship if they are expected to be of greatest international interest and very well organised.

Most important rules:

  • Application at least 18 months in advance

  • At the request of the ENS PC the applicant must be ready to orally account to the PC for the conference concept and any details relevant to is implementation. Conversely, the applicant is entitled to justify his application before the ENS PC.

  • For their conference program committee, the organising societies must ask ENS for nominations from other Member Societies.

  • Copies of the correspondence with the program committee and periodical progress summaries must be sent to the ENS Secretariat.
ENS must appear in the title, e.g. "International SNS/ENS Topical Meeting on ...."

  • The conference program must be internationally balanced and must be predominantly of a scientific, technical, industrial and/or economic nature.

  • The meeting must be held in English or there must be simultaneous translation into English.

  • Conference transactions with the invited and contributed papers must be published with mention of ENS on title page and spine.

  • The "membership" conference registration fee must apply to all members of ENS Member Societies and Corporate Members.

ENS Support:

  • harmonising of themes and scheduling

  • ensuring international expertise on the program committee

  • general consulting and handling of inquiries

  • free entry in ENS conference listing and handling resulting requests for information

  • publication in NEW of brief single-paragraph notes on Call for Papers, Provisional Program and Transactions

  • right to a maximum of three pages of conference ads in NEW at 50% of the commercial rate

In exchange for providing the above support, ENS is entitled to a fee from every Class I and TOP organiser. For TOP conferences this fee will be 3’000.-, for Class I meetings it will be negotiated case by case and, should a meeting make a loss, then the agreed upon fee would have to be reviewed.
