Annual Activity Intake, Limit Value

scroll

The activity of a radionuclide or a nuclide mixture which, after absorption in the body results in a committed dose for an organ, a tissue or the whole body. The committed dose corresponds to the annual limit value of the dose for the respective organ or tissue or the limit value of the effective dose. According to the Radiological Protection Ordinance, for example, the limit value of the annual activity intake of caesium-137 amounts to 4·106 Bq (when ingested) and to 6·106 Bq (when inhaled) for individuals with occupational exposure to radiation.
