Classification of elements

System for tabulating elements according to their atomic number. Classification is in the form of "periods" which differentiate elements in accordance with the electron configuration of their atomic shell (hence often referred to as the "Periodic Table"). The chosen classification system also shows chemically similar elements in "groups" (main groups and sub-groups).
