Compton effect
scroll
Interactive effect of x-ray and gamma radiation with
matter. The Compton effect is the elastic scattering of a quantum with
a free or quasi-free electron from the electron sheath of an atom. Part
of the energy and the pulse of the quantum is transferred to the electron,
the rest remains with the scattered quantum.
