Parameter determined on the basis of statistical procedures to evaluate the detection possibility for nuclear radiation measurements. The value of the detection limit allows a decision to be taken as to whether a contribution of the sample is contained in the registered pulses (see 'Traceability limit') for each measurement with given error probability.
