Energy conversion

Conversion of one energy form into another - e.g. mechanical
into electric energy in the generator - or of one energy carrier into
another - e.g. coal into coke and gas. The starting energy can never
be completely converted into the target energy. The difference is called
conversion loss and mostly occurs as heat.
