Processes leading to the alteration of isotope composition
in a substance, e.g.: H2S + HDO => HDS + H2O
(H = "normal" hydrogen, D = deuterium, "heavy" hydrogen,
S = sulphur). The equilibrium is influenced by the different relative
atomic masses.
