Nuclear power plants in Europe

As of June 30, 2010 there is a total of 195 nuclear power plant units with an installed electric net capacity of 170 GWe in operation in Europe and 19 units with 16,9 GWe were under construction in six countries.

In terms of electricity generated by nuclear energy in 2009 Lithuania holds the top position with a share of 76.2 % (due to EU-regulations shutdown of the Lithuanian NPP Ignalina on Dec 31, 2009) followed by France with 75.2 %, Slovakian Republic with 53.5 %, Belgium with 51.7 % and Ukraine with 48.6 %.
