In Germany (as of November 2008), 17 nuclear power plants with an electric gross output of 21,457 MW are in operation. In 2007 they generated 140 billion kWh of electricity. The equipment and energy availability amounted to 76% and 76.4 %.

Nuclear power plants in operation in Germany, as of 11/2008 and their power generation in 2007
19 nuclear power plants - in particular experimental, prototype and demonstration facilities built in the 60s and 70s – have been decommissioned to date, including the five units of the Nuclear Power Plant Greifswald for general safety reasons.
