Radiation exposure may entail somatic and inheritable effects. Somatic
effects occur in the persons exposed themselves, inheritable effects
can only manifest themselves in descendants. In the case of somatic
radiation effects, a distinction is drawn between stochastic and deterministic radiation
effects.
