Vitrification plant PAMELA

On the premises of the reprocessing plant EUROCHEMlC in Mol/Belgium the 'Pilotanlage Mol zur Erzeugung lagerfähiger Abfälle' (PAMELA) (pilot plant mol for the production of waste suitable for storage) was put into operation in October 1985. The PAMELA process is characterized by the fact that the fission product solution is evaporated, denitrated, dried, calcinated and molten with glass frit to a homogenous glass in a ceramic melting furnace "in one operation".
