www.nea.fr/html/general/jobs/index.html EuroScienceJobs: www.eurosciencejobs.com/ Topical Job Offers:Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Applied Nuclear Physics The School of Physics at the University of Sydney has had research interests in nuclear physics for over 50 years including ongoing research collaborations with the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO). The University of Sydney recently established an Institute of Nuclear Science, administratively within the School of Physics, and an Applied Nuclear Science postgraduate coursework program. The School of Physics now wishes to make an appointment at the level of Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in the area of Applied Nuclear Physics to further develop the School's activities in this area and to consolidate existing nuclear science research in the School. Current areas of research of the School within this area include nuclear medicine physics, nuclear materials modelling, nuclear fusion, the nuclear fuel cycle, radiation transport modelling, health physics and dosimetry. The successful individual will be expected to build up existing research collaborations with ANSTO and also take a lead role in the Applied Nuclear Science postgraduate coursework program. The appointee will be expected to teach general physics at the undergraduate and Honours levels and have a strong involvement in supervising postgraduate and Honours research projects. The selection criteria which the successful applicant will satisfy, includes a PhD or equivalent qualification in physics or a discipline related to applied nuclear physics. A strong research track record in applied nuclear physics and compatible with the strategic directions of the School of Physics along with Tertiary teaching experience is desirable. Supervision of research students is desirable. Evidence of attracting research funding and support is essential for Level C appointment. The appointment will be initially for 5 years and may be extended subject to need. This is a full-time fixed term position for five years, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees. Start-up funds to support the position will be negotiated.
