6th International Topical Meeting on Research Reactor Fuel Management (RRFM)

Cultural Center of Ghent University ‘Het Pand’, Ghent, Belgium, March 17 - 20, 2002 Proven formula — Growing awareness Earlier ENS meetings on research reactor fuel management were held in Belgium in February 1997, March 1998 and 1999, in France in 2000, and in Germany in April 2001. The topics they dealt with were recognized to carry the seeds for premature shutdown of many research reactors. The meetings helped to raise the level of awareness of these crucial issues within the research community and at the political level.

As the sixth event in this series, the two-day RRFM 2002 conference will again feature a limited number of invited lectures and ample space for the presentation of contributed papers, both orally and as posters.

The topics covered by the contributions in the conference are:

• Fuel development, qualification, fabrication and licensing

• Reactor operation, fuel safety and core conversion

• Spent-fuel management: corrosion and degradation

• Back-end options and transportation
