NEW ENS SOCIETY MANAGER

After more than 20 months as the ENS Society Manager, Hans Korteweg will officially step down after the next ENS Board meeting and General Assembly on 22 June. Nevertheless, he will continue to serve the ENS Secretariat in a more minor role as the Executive Advisor to the Secretary General. He will now dedicate most of his time at the FORATOM Secretariat advocating the nuclear energy case at the EU level.

ENS has experienced some major challenges in the past several years. Changes within the scientific and technical community in Europe made it inevitable that ENS would have to re-adjust to new pressures and expectations. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his invaluable support and contribution to the ENS during these this interesting period. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

John Shepherd

We are pleased to announce that John Shepherd will take over the role of ENS Society Manager. He will start working for ENS as of today (2 May 2007). He will work closely with Hans Korteweg for a transitional period up to the 22 June ENS Board meeting and General Assembly. This period will allow for a smooth changeover.

John Shepherd is not new to the ENS family having worked alongside the ENS Secretariat in Bern at NucNet for a number of years. In addition to his duties as the next ENS Society Manager, John Shepherd will continue to serve NucNet as its Secretary General and Editor-in-Chief.
