SMaRRt is a dedicated event at the European Research Reactor Conference (RRFM) 2026, created to strengthen collaboration between developers of Small and Advanced Modular Reactors (SMRs/AMRs) and the research reactor community.
As advanced reactor technologies move from design to deployment, the exchange of expertise and the use of existing research infrastructures are becoming essential to overcoming shared challenges.
The event will focus on the key technical challenges associated with the development and qualification of reactor technologies.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is just 15 minutes from Leiden by direct train (see Google Maps). VISA
Citizens from countries outside of the Schengen area might need a visa to enter the Netherlands.
Upon request, the European Nuclear Society will prepare a visa invitation letter for delegates whose registration fees have been received in full. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to give any further support to the visa application process. Obtaining a visa remains the sole responsibility of the participant. Regular cancellation deadlines apply, regardless of whether your visa was granted or not.

The event will focus on the key technical challenges associated with the development and qualification of advanced reactor technologies. It will provide a platform for in-depth contributions from the community—highlighting practical experience, ongoing projects, and cutting-edge research that drive innovation forward.
Call for Contributions – Share Your Work!
We invite all members of the SMR/AMR and research reactor communities to contribute to the discussion by presenting current projects and experience related to:
- Testing in extreme conditions (High-temperature, intense radiation, challenging environment testing)
- Expertise/experiences in the qualification of materials and fabrication technologies
- Building the future operating organisation of innovative reactors
- Use of advanced and innovative concepts, moderators, coolants and innovative combinations
- Advances in instrumentation, modelling and simulation that can reduce time & cost of fuel development
