ENS Tributes André Versteegh
The European Nuclear Society remembers André Versteegh with gratitude and respect for his dedicated service and lasting contribution to the Society’s development.
From 2000 to 2005, André served as ENS Treasurer and was an active member of the Board of Directors during a particularly challenging period in the Society’s history. At a time when ENS faced significant financial and organisational difficulties, his careful financial stewardship helped ensure continuity and supported the return to stable and effective operations.
Beyond his financial role, André also contributed to guiding ENS through an important institutional transition. As a committed member of the Board, he supported the relocation of ENS from Switzerland to Brussels, where the organisation was formally established in October 2002 — a key milestone in strengthening its European identity and long-term presence.
André is remembered as a dependable and thoughtful colleague, whose commitment and sense of responsibility helped reinforce the Society’s foundations. His contribution remains part of ENS’s history and community.
Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, to whom we extend our sincere condolences.
