How Mechanical Calculations Support Nuclear Safety

Methods, Tools & Innovation
25th February 2026, 1:00 pm CEST, Online

The Framatome Burgundy Mechanical Calculations Centre brings together around 150 engineers specialised in developing methods and tools to demonstrate the mechanical integrity of nuclear equipment, ranging from pressure components to lifting and handling systems.

This webinar will present the Centre’s core activities and areas of expertise, illustrated through recent major projects. These include the fourth decennial inspection of French 1300 MW nuclear power plants — a key milestone after 40 years of operation requiring updated mechanical justifications — as well as the extension of the Saint-Marcel manufacturing facility, responsible for producing critical nuclear primary components such as reactor pressure vessels and steam generators.

Speaker:

  • Olivier Vernhet (Manager of Framatome Burgundy Mechanical Calculations Centre)

Join the webinar to gain insight into how mechanical calculations, methods, and innovation support nuclear safety in practice.
