ENS Webinar – Nuclear Energy and Data Centres | Meeting the Energy Needs of Digital Expansion

The rapid expansion of digital infrastructure is transforming global energy demand. Driven by growing data processing needs, Artificial Intelligence, cloud services and digital connectivity, data centres are becoming increasingly significant consumers of electricity, raising new questions about how to ensure reliable, scalable and low-carbon energy supply.

As countries and industries explore different pathways to support this growth, nuclear energy is increasingly considered as a potential contributor to long-term electricity system resilience and decarbonisation strategies.

This webinar will provide an overview of current trends linking energy and digital infrastructure development, together with EPRI and EDF (ENS Corporate Members). The first part will offer a broader international perspective on evolving electricity demand, the implications of data centre expansion, and the approaches being explored across different regions. The second part will focus on the French experience, presenting recent developments and practical examples illustrating the interaction between nuclear energy systems and emerging digital infrastructure needs.

Speakers:

  • Caroline Bono,  R&D Project Lead (EDF)
  • Daniel Klein, Principal Team Lead for Advanced Reactor Engineering (EPRI)
  • Anne-Lise Laurain, Senior Technical Leader – Technology Innovation Team (EPRI)

Moderator:

  • Lancelot De Halleux, Technical Integrator at Tractebel & Belgian Nuclear Society-YGN

Join us for a discussion on how evolving digital infrastructure and growing electricity demand are reshaping the conversation around future energy systems.
