Nuclear Power Plant Krümmel/Elbe, boiling water reactor with an electric gross output of 1,402 MW, nuclear commissioning on 14th September 1983, final shutdown on 4th July 2009. Lifetime electricity generation: 201.7 TWh.

On 24th August 2015, the application for the dismantling of the Krümmel nuclear power plant was submitted. There are approximately 500,000 tons of concrete and steel, some of which are highly contaminated. The spent fuel will remain in an interim storage facility at the site until 2035. According to Vattenfall, which is managing the decommissioning, the operations should begin at the earliest in 2020 and last at least 15 years.
